Thanksgiving Baby Kessel Update

(age seven months)

Dear all --

Happy Thanksgiving.

To those of you I haven't spoken to in a while, I had a baby, and he's kept us pretty busy, but now I'm trying to re-establish contact with you.

The baby has a web site athttp://www.webmerchants.com/kesselwhich if you haven't looked since a couple weeks ago,now has charming pictures, with a new batch coming soon.

Baby Kessel is up to 20 lbs now. He crawls pretty well, more like creeping, but he's starting to figure out how to use his knees. It's dangerous to leave him on the bed these daysbecause he's real good at crawling to the edgebut real bad at understanding the consequences of gravity.

He now eats solid food (well, we call it that, but it's really mush)and likes carrots and pears but dislikes garden vegetables. We feed him bananas straight from the peel.

Eljay insists that he recognizes us all by nameand looks at me when she says "Where's Ba?" because I say "Ba!" to him regularly.I deny any such association is possible at 7 months, and I think he looks at whowver happens to be around. He does like mirrors a lot, however.

Report as of Sept 19 1997:

(age four-and-a-half months)
Big_SmileLatest doctor's visit has Baby Kessel at 17 lbs 4 oz.
Still in the high 90th percentile range.
He got three shots and DID NOT CRY! (well, a couple of whimpers).
He is now eating "solid" food more or less regularly --he likes carrots (mushed up), dislikes barley cereal, and toleratesoatmeal and rice cereal. Squash is next.
He laughs at things we don't understand, like Coco's face.
He also laughs at understandable things, like his image in the mirror, being lifted up in the air by his wrists (a sure-fire shrieker), and being pulled up to standing from laying down.

Now everyone says, "Oh, he's starting to look like Eljay."
Eljay says that what all people say in the fourth month, after they say, "Oh, he looks like Jesse" in the first months. The next phrase is "Oh, he has a nice combination of featuresfrom both of you," which is just starting to work its way in this week.
